Medi-Cal Renewal Process
Your local Medi-Cal office reviews eligibility for all Medi-Cal members every year.
Everyone’s renewal date is different. Some people will be renewed automatically based on information their local Medi-Cal office has access to, such as the Social Security and Employment Development Department databases. If renewed automatically, you will receive a notice that you have been renewed, and you do not need to do anything else to continue accessing Medi-Cal covered care.
Others will need to provide additional information to their local Medi-Cal office to complete the renewal process. If you receive a renewal form in the mail, you must complete the form and submit any additional information requested to keep your coverage. This form may come in a yellow envelope.
Updating information
Make sure your local Medi-Cal office has your correct information.
Let your local Medi-Cal office know within 10 days if your information changes.
Potential changes include: moved to a new address, changed phone numbers, changed email, got a new job, a pregnancy, had a baby, or got married.
The fastest way to check and update your information is to log in to your online account. If you do not have an account, you can create one online. The website may take a few days to set up and allow you to access your account. You must have your Social Security or Medi-Cal case number to view your information.
Medi-Cal Mail Notices
Watch for notices or renewal forms in the mail to know when it’s time for you or your family members to renew Medi-Cal coverage. Respond to any requests from your local Medi-Cal office to keep your coverage and access the care you need.
